Silverstone Race Report
Qualifying
Saturday qualifying was absolutely amazing for me, the session started off on time on the full grand prix circuit, which is extremely fast and flowing allowing us to really stretch the legs of the Lamborghini. The car felt great and I soon got into a rhythm getting quicker each lap, my delta kept coming down until I had gone quicker than the current lap record with a time of 2m.02.6, although it will not be classed as a new lap record because it wasn’t done in the race. That was pole position for me in the sprint race.
Race 1 Sprint
Starting from pole I could control the rolling start and managed to go into the first corner overtking a couple of the GTO cars putting me up to 3rd overall and P1 in class , I just kept pushing every lap and my race engineer was tell me I was pulling a gap on the cars in my class behind me, so I just kept pushing, I took the chequered flag winning the race in my class and the sister car finished P2 in class , the whole team was overjoyed with the 1 – 2 finish.
Pitstop Race Saturday
With me getting the fastest lap in the sprint race it meant my teammate Charlotte started the race from pole position, she got a good start but was overtaken by our sister car but managed to stay in contention with it and came in before the sister car to hand it over to me. Not only do we have the extra 20seconds in the pit for being classed as a pro we also had and additional 20 seconds success penalty meant when I left the pits we had been leapfrogged by our sister car. I got my head down and started to chip away at the times and slowly started pulling the time back until I could see him in front of me and that just gave me more determination to get past him. With 2 laps to go I managed to get up behind him and saw he had got rear wing damage which was obviously hindering his progress and this allowed me to get past quite easily to take the victory, that’s 2 races and 2 wins for the Saturday, all to do again tomorrow.
Pitstop Race Sunday
This time Charlotte started the race in P1 in class and with a PB around Silverstone of 2m.03.8 and P4 overall, at the start our main rival the sister car jumped the start and went past everybody into turn 1 which took everyone by surprise, Charlotte just got her head down and kept putting in great lap times passing him about 3 laps after the start and pushed all the way to the end her stint and hand the car over to me, again we came out in P2 in class and I had a deficit of 16 seconds to make up, Warren was pushing hard in the sister car but I was taking 4 seconds a lap out of him and managed to get past him on the last lap of the race. So P1 again in class for myself and Charlotte. We go into the summer break leading the overall championship by 14 points.
We now go into the summer break and will be next out at Donington on 14th and 15th of September
